Tab Limits

Your family’s tab has one spending limit, and you control it. New purchases pause once the unpaid balance reaches the limit, so nobody can run up more than you expect between automatic charges.

  • The club sets a default limit that every family starts with
  • You can replace it with your own amount — higher or lower than the default
  • You can turn the limit off entirely, in which case purchases are never blocked and your full balance is charged at the next automatic charge

When a purchase would push the tab over the limit, staff at the cart see it, and online purchases are refused with a prompt to raise the limit.

On your Tab page, find Your tab limit:

  1. Type a dollar amount in the box
  2. Click Save limit

To go back to the club’s default, click Use club default. To remove the limit, click Disable limit and confirm Disable your tab limit?.

The panel also reminds you how often the tab is automatically charged and the next charge date, so you can size the limit to the cadence.

If you buy popsicle packs online and your tab can’t cover them, the review page shows Your tab can’t cover this yet with your tab balance, the purchase amount, and your current limit. Rather than sending you to the Tab page, it offers a one-click fix:

  • Click Raise limit to $X and buy — the limit is raised to exactly enough for this purchase and the packs go on your tab

The new limit stays in place until you change it again.

Every change to the limit — whether you made it on the Tab page, raised it at checkout, or staff raised it at the desk — is kept in a history that administrators can see on your family’s billing page.

The app’s tab screen has the same limit editor: enter an amount and tap Save limit, or use the club default or Disable limit actions. A tab that has hit its limit shows “Your tab reached its limit, so nothing more can go on it until it’s paid.”
