Banners
A banner is a notice pinned to the top of a member page — a pool closure, a registration deadline, a reminder to sign a waiver — with optional buttons and a start and end time.
Creating a banner
Section titled “Creating a banner”- Go to Admin > Banners (under Members) and click New banner
- Enter a Header (e.g. “Pool closed Saturday”), and optionally a Subhead and a longer Body (newlines are preserved)
- Under Buttons, click Add button for up to two buttons, each with a Label and a URL — internal (e.g.
/home/lessons) or external - Choose Where does this show? — Home page or Volunteer page
- Set Start and End if the notice is dated. Blank start shows immediately; blank end runs until you turn it off
- Under Who can see this?, tick account types to target, or leave all unchecked for everyone
- Tick Active, and Dismissible if members may close it
- Click Create banner
How banners behave
Section titled “How banners behave”- Only one banner is shown per page at a time — the most recently created active banner that matches the member’s account type wins
- Home page banners appear above everything on Home; Volunteer page banners appear above the tabs on the Volunteering page
- The first button is filled, the rest outlined; internal links open in the portal, external ones in a new tab
- When a banner is Dismissible, members can click the X to hide it in that browser. The dismissal is remembered on that device only, so the same member sees it again on another phone or computer
Managing banners
Section titled “Managing banners”The Banners list shows each banner’s status — Active, Scheduled, Expired, or Off — along with its Page, its window (Persistent or the dates), its Audience (Everyone or the account types), whether it is dismissible, and its buttons. Row actions are Turn off / Turn on, Edit, and Delete.
