Tab Mode Settings
Tab Mode lets member families run a tab at the snack cart instead of paying per sale. Purchases accrue on the tab and are charged to the family’s card on file on a schedule you choose.
Enabling Tab Mode
Section titled “Enabling Tab Mode”Admins see the Concessions Tab Mode card (#tab-mode) at the bottom of Concessions Tabs (/admin/concessions/tabs):
- Set the Snack cart name members will see (default Snack Cart, up to 40 characters). It’s used on the member’s Tab page, receipts, and tab emails whether or not Tab Mode is on
- Tick Enable Tab Mode
- Choose a Reconcile frequency — Monthly, Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks), or Weekly — and then:
- Monthly: Reconcile day of month (1–28)
- Weekly or bi-weekly: Reconcile day of week
- Bi-weekly only: a Bi-weekly anchor date that fixes which alternate weeks the charge runs on
- Set the Default tab cap ($) — the starting limit for every family. Members can raise, lower, or disable their own; set 0 for no default cap
- Optionally change the Reconcile hour (UTC, 0–23) (default 14, about 6am Pacific) and the Daily digest hour (UTC, 0–23) (default 3, about 8pm Pacific)
- Click Save Tab Mode Settings
The page header summarises the live settings, for example “Tab mode enabled. Default cap $200.00 per family, reconciles every other Monday.”
What Happens Automatically
Section titled “What Happens Automatically”- Daily digest — each evening, every family whose tab gained items that day gets a summary email listing the day’s items, the running balance, and the next charge date
- Reconciliation — on the scheduled day, every open tab is charged to the family’s card on file, the family receives a tab paid email with a receipt, and the tab closes. A tab with a zero balance simply closes
- Failed charges — a declined card freezes the tab (no new items), emails the family to update their card, and alerts the club’s ops recipients with Tab charge failed: [family] — $X (attempt n of m). Retries continue on later runs until they’re exhausted; after that the tab stays frozen until the family fixes their card and pays
- No usable card — a family whose only saved method is a bank account is frozen with an add a card email, since tabs settle by card only
What Members See
Section titled “What Members See”With Tab Mode on and a card on file, a member’s popsicle-pack purchase reads Add to tab — $X instead of charging, and the Popsicle Checkout’s reload button reads Add $X to tab. Members manage their own limit and can pay early from their Tab page — see the member guide’s Your Family Tab and Tab Limits.
