Popsicle Checkout

Popsicle Checkout (/checkout) is the front-desk screen for popsicle punch cards. Staff and admins use it to take punches off a family’s balance and to sell new packs.

  1. In Search by Member Number or Last Name, type a member number or part of a last name
  2. Each result shows the family name, their Member #, and the names of the people on the account so you can tell similar families apart
  3. Click the family

The screen then shows the family’s Punches Remaining, any Family Notes, the checkout controls, and Recent Transactions.

Members can leave notes for staff on their Popsicle Punches page (for example, a per-day limit for a child). They appear in an amber Family Notes panel. Click Edit to change them, or Add Family Notes when there are none.

  1. Under Use Punches, set Amount
  2. Click Use N Punches

The button is disabled if the family doesn’t have enough punches.

  1. Under Reload Punches, choose the number of packs — Packs (10 each), one to ten
  2. Click the charge button. Its label tells you what will happen:
    • Charge $X to card on file — the family has a saved card
    • Charge $X via reader — no card on file, but this browser is paired to a reader
    • Add $X to tab — Tab Mode is on and the family has a card on file
    • No card on file or reader paired — nothing to charge with; pair a reader first
  3. Review the Confirm reload for [family] dialog and click Charge $X (or Add $X to tab)

For reader charges, a toast says Waiting for the reader. Ask the customer to tap their card. The punches are added when the tap succeeds and the receipt is emailed to the family. If the family had no card on file and tapped a new one, you’re asked Save this card for [family]? — click Save card so future reloads can use the card on file.

If a card-on-file charge is declined and a reader is paired, the error toast offers Charge via reader as a fallback.

Admins see an Admin Adjustment card. Enter a positive or negative Amount (+/-), a Reason (required), and click Apply. The adjustment appears in the family’s history as Adjustment.

The header shows This station: with a reader dropdown and a status badge (online, offline, or No reader paired). Pairing is per browser — see Readers.
